No TV For A Week

No! I'm not being punished.

But I am bored!

This Dish cable box went out and we have no TV. How can this be? I pay the bill on time every month. I even rent a movie (Hunger Games was the last one) every now and then. I even dust the damn thing off once or twice a year religiously. Why is it not working?

So what does any loyal customer do at times like this? I called the Dish hot … well … medium-warm line and told them everything I tried. I pulled the power plug for 20 seconds and re-plugged it. Nothing! I held the On/Off button in for 5 seconds. The green light came on, but when I touched the remote, it went out.

Then Mr. Helpful told me to pull the power cord again for 20 seconds. Then he told me to push the On/Off button again until the power came on. Still nothing!

Then he came to brilliant conclusion that he box had a power failure and he would have to send out a new on. It should come in three to five days. This was on Saturday. No one works on Sunday and Monday is a holiday. So my 3to5 will end up being a week or more.

No! The service people do not carry extra cable boxes and it is the company policy to have new stuff sent out and the old stuff returned. Since I don’t have a protection plan the shipping will cost me $15.00. BUT, he can sign me up for the protection plan over the phone right now for only $7.00 a month. I passed on his generous offer.

But, Peeps, I have needs. I have show’s I like to watch and others I record to watch later. There are ball games and porn and game shows, not to mention the reality stuff. And the house is QUIET! I DON’T DO QUITE!

It’s even hard to concentrate on reading blogs because of the quiet. Just this morning I think I heard a gnat fart. I’m telling ya the house is alive. It makes noises. Hell, it may be haunted, though if it is I wish the ghost would show him/herself. That would be the decent thing to do, don’t cha think?

Judy and I talk some now. And we don’t have to yell over the sound of the TV to do it. However that’s getting old, too. We lead a pretty simple life so there aren’t a lot of things to talk about. So we read.

I have read all the books that were laying around, so we went up to the book-swap store and picked up a few more. I even got some that didn’t have pictures. On Purpose! The pictures reminded me of TV.
